I am obsessed with this cocktail from a wine bar. Yes, we were having dinner at a wine bar and I started our meal by ordering a drink made with Maker's Mark. It has been a long time since I have been this taken by a cocktail. After talking with the bartender, I returned home to create my version which I call, the Winter Orange Blossom Cocktail

Ingredients
1/2 ounce of Aperol Apertivo, an Italian bitter with notes of orange and tangerine
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce turbinado simple syrup (Try infusing the syrup by adding a few whole cloves to the syrup as it cools)
1 1/2 ounce Maker's Mark Bourbon
Garnish with orange peel and a Luxardo cherry
Add the Aperol, lemon juice, simple syrup, and Maker's Mark to a clean shaker with ice. Shake fervently and strain into a cocktail glass with ice.
Using a vegetable peeler, shave a two-inch strip of orange peel and twist into a circle to cradle the cherry. This citrus notes of the Aperol and the blossom garnish is what gives this lovely cocktail its sweet name.
